Why Dog Day Care?
Dog Day CareJust like humans, recreation is an essential part of raising a well-rounded, healthy and happy dog! Aside from the obvious physical benefits, play is an essential way for dogs to exercise their mind, practise communication and release energy. We employ a range of toys, enrichment tools and interaction to engage your dog: tug toys, balls, water pools and sandpits are just a few ways we keep them thinking and reacting. Play in a secure area like Happy Pawes Dog Day Care is off-leash, controlled and always supervised, ensuring both the enjoyment and safety of your dog.

Providing an outlet for play, exercise, stimulation and generally time to just be a dog means that life at home may become a whole lot easier. Barking, digging, chewing, destructive behaviour and other symptoms of boredom can be significantly reduced, and your dog will be happier just to rest quietly with the family after a happy day at Happy Pawes Dog Day Care!

Your dog's safe interaction with people and other dogs is an expectation of the community and socialisation is an essential lesson for pets to integrate with our lifestyle. Being able to take your dog to a park, beach or café is one of the many joys of dog ownership and to do this in a calm and friendly manner is dependent on positive socialisation.

Dogs are naturally social creatures and crave the companionship of both humans and animals. Socially acclimatised dogs are more confident, communicate with other dogs better and adhere to social graces and the incidence of fights or aggression is far less likely in a well-socialised dog.

Why Does My Dog Need an Assessment?

Dog Day Care All dogs wanting to attend Happy Pawes Dog Day care are required to have a free assessment. This can give us crucial information to see how they react to other dogs.
We want to make sure your dog will be happy with us at day care and so we can settle them in to our routine. We want all dogs to enjoy the Happy Pawes experience and become a part of our family. During the assessment you are required to complete the application form which will have questions relating to health, behaviour and training.

You also need to bring your vaccination card with you so we can make sure your dog is all up to date on the vaccines required. Once we have had a chat regarding your form it is time to settle you and your dog in to our assessment area where we introduce your dog – off leash - to other dogs to see how they react.

We begin with much calmer dogs and also they are introduced one at a time. During this time we are looking at your dog's body language and making sure they are happy to sniff and greet the dog, play, show no signs of aggression or any signs of stress or fear.
If we feel that this environment is not suitable for your dog we will let you know during this session. If all is well your dog can stay with us for half a day to join in the fun.

Outdoor Play Area

All dogs are able to access the secure dedicated 4 x 10 metre outside play area during the day. We have a specific grass area for them to have toilet breaks, they can have a lazy afternoon and sunbathe and relax or maybe they would like to have a play session in the wading pool which is lots of fun for those water babies.
For those dogs that love to dig we have our digging pits with plenty of sand to get their paws in to and who knows what they might find in the hole they have dug there are different surprises every day.
